When Nathanael and Noelia went to sing at a retirement home for the first time, the residents raved. "Where did you get your beautiful voices?" they asked. I hoped my grandchildren had been trained well enough to give all the credit to God, but, I must admit, I was tickled with their inaccurate but totally innocent answer. "We got our voices from our Grandma. She is the best singer in the whole world," Nathanael proclaimed.
Why did he come out with such a ridiculous exaggeration? Because I was the teacher who taught him the songs. I was the teacher, hence I was the expert, the one he tried to emulate, the one who had the most influence in that area of his life.
Have you ever had similar experiences? If you are a Christian grandparent you can have a huge influence on your grandchild.
It may not always be as evident as it was in this instance, but your influence will be proportional to the amount of time you spend teaching your grandchildren.
As Christian Grandparents we do have an important role to play. Lets work together to save our grandchildren.
What can we do as Christian Grandparents?
Christian grandparents can make a difference. All Grandparents are special. Christian Grandparents should be extra special. All Grandparents have a lasting influence on their grandchildren. A Christian grandparent should have a godly influence that lasts for eternity.
I would love to hear from other Christian Parents and Grandparents as we address some very important issues.

Carol, I just heard you on Joy's webinar and wanted to check out your site.
ReplyDelete(BTW: I had no trouble finding you, just typed www.christiangrandparents.com and it took me directly to your blog)
I was blessed to be homeschooled for 5 years, and am thoroughly enjoying teaching my own at home too. My grandparents were missionaries, so I didn't get to see them very often, but my Gr-pa left a huge impact on my life. He's in glory now, but I'll never forget the lessons he taught me.
Oh, that the Lord would raise up more Christian grandparents, and more parents that teach their children to appreciate the wisdom of their elders rather than frit away their lives by listening to "peers".
I'll be following your blog, not as a grandparent (yet) but hoping to glean wisdom from your experiences.
Thank you!
