We make our plans; we try to carry them out; we seldom stop to think that the Lord may have a different path for us to follow.
I personally planned on homeschooling my grandchildren all year long. I don't remember saying, "Lord willing." After all, why wouldn't He will it? They need me. My daughter needs me. I could say the same for Bruce. "I need him."
But can I claim to know my needs or the needs of my children or grandchildren better then my Lord does? I think not. He knows what's best for me, for my husband, for my children, and for my grandchildren.
This is what I need to teach my grand children. They need to know that if Grandpa gets sick, or Grandma can't spend as much time with them, if they don't get to do the things they want to do, or they get plunged into a situation they don't like, no matter what happens in their little world, God does know best, and He will make everything work out for their good if they love him.
If I can say, "Lord willing," and mean it, they will learn that very important concept, too. And some day down the road, if Grandma or Grandpa die, they will find the grace to believe that it's OK; the Lord still has everything under control.
